This hand embroidery pattern uses the double hoop technique to create a lovely floral wreath that will never wilt away!
This pattern is available to purchase as a printable PDF on ETSY.
The PDF pattern includes a stitch guide and detailed step by step instructions on how to mount, transfer the pattern and finish off the double hoop embroidery design.
I've used white DMC embroidery floss on an icy blue felt to create a wintery wreath but you can use any colour combination you like. For example you could reflect the different seasons by using deep oranges, reds and yellows for fall, light pastels for spring and bold, bright colours for summer!
As the sample hoop uses only one colour, it is a wonderful pattern for a beginner embroiderer! More experienced embroiders can increase difficulty by using a wider variety of colours or creating gradient roses and leaves.
Stitches
I used woven wheel stitches to create the lovely white roses! I tend to not stitch too tightly so the roses look nice and fluffy. For the sprig leaves I used short straight stitches and back stitches and french knots to represent the buds. The leaves are created with a fishbone stitch. I find the fishbone stitch very similar to a satin stitch because for both of them you need to be very precise to create even, smooth edges. The PDF pattern stitch guide has written instructions accompanied with diagrams to teach you all of these stitches!
